Is This Your Calling?

There is a need for a new generation of journalists to come forward who are willing to lay aside personal bias. This is a difficult requirement to fulfill when reporting on incidents that take an emotional toll both on the individuals involved and the observers.

Reporting news that will shape how history is recorded is not for the faint-hearted or the agenda-driven; it requires an equanimity that may be mistaken for insensitivity. Taking or giving offense is not in the job description. Seeking the truth is, whatever the obstacles.
